Two Orig Japanese Edo Woodblock Print Books Toyokuni Kunisada Legend of Western Countries
These TWO original Japanese woodblock print books “Legend of Western Countries” signed by the famous Edo woodblock print masters Toyokuni III (1786-1865) and Kunisada as the same person made in Edo Era (before 1867). These TWO books are ORIGINAL woodblock prints more than 240 years old. These two woodblock print books are part of a large number of gorgeous, different-styled Japanese woodblock print collections in my family that we are gradually selling. These TWO woodblock print books depict the love story between a Samurai and Geisha in Edo Era. These Two books signed by the famous Edo woodblock print master Toyokuni with both Toyokuni and Kunsada chop marks are very rare. The size of each woodblock print book is 7 x 4 1/2 inches. Toyokuni and Kunisada signatures are at front page of left woodblock print book while the title of these books “Legend of Western Countries” are at the upper left corner of the right book. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers on the print. The back cover page of one book is lost. Otherwise, These two woodblock print books are in excellent condition. It is hard to find original Japanese woodblock print books signed by the famous Edo woodblock print master Toyokuni and his another name Kunisada together in the public nowadays and it is definitely an incredible piece for collecting.
