A Beautiful Japanese Woodblock Print Triptych Hiroshige Utagawa Eight Views of Kanazawa at Night
This is a very beautiful and romantic Japanese woodblock print triptych “Eight Views of Kanazawa at Night” from the famous Edo artist Hiroshige Utagawa (1797-1858) published by the YuYuDo printmaker made in 1970s IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. This woodblock print is a classical representation of Hiroshige’s mastery of romantic scenery of Japanese in Edo Era. This woodblock print is from my family seven-decade Japanese woodblock prints and Asian Art collections. The three panels are separate. The size of each panel is 16 x 11 inches. The artist’s signature and his chop mark are close to the lower left edge of the left panel while the printmaker YuYuDo chop mark, the carver and printer’s chop marks are in the lower left border of the left panel. There are three censor seals on each panel. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers on the original Japanese Washi paper. This woodblock print TRIPTYCH is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese Mulberry paper.
