Description & History- This is a very beautiful and rare original Japanese woodblock print “Early Summer Castle” signed by the famous Show Shin Hanga woodblock print master Nishiyama Hideo (1911-1989) published by the famous woodblock printmaker UNSODO and made in Showa 35, which is 1960 IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.  This is an ORIGINAL woodblock print about 56 years old. This woodblock print is from Dr. Ben family seven-decade old collection of Japanese woodblock prints and Asian Art.

Print Condition- Nishiyama Hideo is one of the most famous Shin Hanga woodblock print artists in the Showa Era.  He was born in Kyoto in 1911. In 1954, he became the professor of Kyoto. After the WWII, he won many art prizes such as The Ministry of Education Prize in 1958 and The Japan Art Institute Prize in 1961.  His work has been collected by many famous museums around the world. 

The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers.  The artist’s chop mark is at the lower left corner of the print.  Four borders are intact.  The original publisher UNSODO CHOP MARK and carver and printer’s chop marks are in the lower left border while the title of the print, another artist’s chop mark and the date this print was made “Showa 35”, which is (1960) are in the right border.  This original woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese mulberry Washi paper.  This original woodblock print is IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

Shipping- Shipping is $12 anywhere in US by USPS priority mail with insurance and tracking.  International shipping charges are US$22 through 1st class airmail WITHOUT insurance, buyers will have to assume all the risks during the mailing. If you choose to mail by international priority mail with tracking and limited insurance, it costs around $50.  We do combined shipping.  If more than one item is purchased at the same time, the highest shipping cost will be charged. All items will be shipped together.
