Date of Creation- Original Japanese Woodblock Print, 1870s

Print Condition- Shunga is ancient Japanese erotic art. Most of the Shunga we see today are pages from old books at sizes around 5 inches. Most original individual Shunga are collected by private collectors and are hardly ever displayed today. The only ones I have ever seen in public were at a museum in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Like most Shunga, this woodblock print does not have the artist’s signature on it. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the thin Japanese mulberry Washi paper. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. This woodblock print is IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
