A Great Orig Japanese Woodblock Print Triptych Kochoro Samurai and Geisha 1896
This is a very beautiful, colorful, and special original Japanese woodblock print triptych “Samurai and Geisha” signed by the famous Meiji woodblock print master Kochoro (1848-1920), made in March Meiji 29, which is 1896. This is an original Japanese woodblock print triptych more than120 years old. This triptych is one of the core collections of a large number of Asian art and Japanese woodblock print collections in my family. We are gradually selling them. The three panels of this triptych are separate. The size of each panel is 9 3/4 x 14 inches. The artist’s signature with Toshidama Seal and the publisher’s name and address and publication date are at the lower left corner of the left panel. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers on the print. This triptych is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding through can be seen from the back of original Japanese Washi paper. Except for a few warm holes in the borders and the left panel, this ORIGINAL woodblock print triptych is in average condition. Please examine the photos. It is hard to find an original Japanese woodblock print triptych of such a beautiful and colorful scene signed by Meiji woodblock print master Kochoro in the public nowadays and it is definitely an incredible piece for collecting.
