A Great Japanese Woodblock Print Hokusai Katsushika Great Wave of Kanagawa 1970s (3)

$ 125.00

This is a very famous and special Japanese woodblock print “Great Wave of Kanagawa” from the famous Edo woodblock print master Hokusai Katsushika (1760-1849) made in 1970s IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.  This woodblock print is part of a large number of Asian art and Japanese woodblock print collections in my family. We are gradually selling them.  Hokusai’s “Great Wave” represents one of his masterpieces. “Great Wave of Kanagawa ” not only contrasts the majestic strength of nature and diminutive stature of mankind, but it also represents the spirit of Japan.  The print is so strongly decorative in design that we almost tend to overlook the small boat sailing on for dear life as the sea batters it.  The size of this woodblock print is 16 3/4 x 12 inches.  The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers on the prints. The artist’s signature and title of print is close to the upper left edge of the print. This print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding through can be seen at the back of Japanese mulberry paper.  Four borders are intact. This woodblock print is IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. It is hard to find a “Great Wave of Kanagawa” woodblock print by Hokusai in the public nowadays and it is definitely an incredible piece for collecting.  Shipping is $16 dollars anywhere in US via USPS priority mail with insurance and tracking.  International shipping charges are US$25 through airmail WITHOUT insurance, buyers will have to assume all the risks during the mailing.  We do combined shipping.  If more than one item is purchased at the same time, the highest shipping cost will be charged.
