Great Orig Japanese Woodblock Print Triptych Terukata Ikeda Russo-Japan Victory of Japanese Navy War Russian Battleship Petropavlovsk was Blown up 1904
$ 599.00
This is a very beautiful, colorful, and rare ORIGINAL Japanese woodblock print triptych “Victory of Japanese Nav, Russian Battleship Petropavlovsk was Blown up” from the rare Russo-Japan War Series signed by the famous Meiji woodblock print master Terukata Ikeda (1883-1921), made in April Meiji 37, which is 1904. This is an original woodblock print about 115 years old. This woodblock print is from my family seven-decade Japanese woodblock print and Asian Art collections. The exactly same woodblock print is listed at https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/dc/Dai_Nihon_teikoku_kaigun_daish%C3%B4ri_banzai_by_Ikeda_Terukata.jpg Three Panels are separate. The size of each panel is 13 3/4 x 9 inches. The artist’s signature and his chop mark are close to the lower right edge of the right panel while the chop mark of publisher’s name and address and publication date “April Meiji 37 (1904)”, the carver’s chop mark and the publisher’s telephone number 294 are at the lower left corner of the left panel. The English description is at the top of the left panel while the Japanese title “Great Victory of Japanese Navy Hurrah!” is at the bottom of the left panel. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers on the print. The triptych is attached to an original Japanese Washi backing paper but ink bleeding can still be seen through the back of original Japanese Washi paper. Except for a vertical crease about half inch away from the left edges of the right panel and middle panel, which have been fixed by the original Washi paper, this ORIGINAL woodblock print triptych is in good condition. It is hard to find such a beautiful and rare ORIGINAL Japanese woodblock print triptych signed by the Japanese Ukiyoe woodblock print master Terukata Ikeda in the public nowadays. This original woodblock print is definitely an incredible piece for collecting. Any credit card, visa, master card, bank and post office money order, cashier check and personal check are accepted.
