Orig Japanese Woodblock Print Shimura Tatsumi Dancing Girl 1953

This is AN EXTRA LARGE very rare and beautiful original Japanese woodblock print “Dancing Girl” from the rare series “Five Figures of Modern Beauties” signed by the famous Shin-Hanga artist Shimura Tatsumi (1907-1980) published by the printmaker Nihon Hanga Kenkyu-jo in 1953 with an embroidered mark “Dancing Girl”, which is the title of this print.   This ORIGINAL woodblock print is more than 66 years old.   This woodblock print is one of the core collections of a large number of gorgeous, different-styled Japanese woodblock print collections in my family.  We are gradually selling.  Shimura Tatsumi was born in Takasaki in the Gunma prefecture under the given name of Sentaro in 1907.  Shimura Tatsumi was specialized in bijin-ga the genre of the depiction of beautiful women.   The women in his woodblock prints look very fashionable, trendy, beautiful and cute- with big eyelashes and sensual lipstick mouths.  Shimura Tatsumi was mainly a traditional Japanese painter so he did not create a lot of bijin ga prints before he died in 1980.   The designs of his woodblock prints have an individual style and are something special - and beautiful.  Because of these reasons, his Bijin ga woodblock prints are hard to find and are highly priced in all over the world.  The information of Shimura Tatsumi and his woodblock print can be easily found on any search engine. The size of this woodblock print is 18 x11 1/4 inches, which is LARGER than the traditional Shin Hanga woodblock prints. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers.  This woodblock print is not attached any backing paper or cardboard and Ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese mulberry Washi paper.  All four borders are intact.  The artist’s signature and his chop mark is at the lower right corner of the print while the carver and printer’s chop marks are in the lower right border.  The the publisher’s chop mark, an artist’s chop mark and an embroidered Mark “Dancing Girl”, which is the title of this print are in the bottom border.  Except for a little wrinkle in the upper right corner in the border, which seems having been there since the print was first made, this ORIGINAL woodblock print is in excellent condition.  Original Shimura Tatsumi’s Bijin-ga woodblock prints are not often found in the public nowadays.  This original woodblock print is definitely an incredible piece for collecting.  Texas residents need to pay 8.25% tax.  Shipping is $16 dollars anywhere in US via USPS priority mail with insurance and tracking.  International shipping charges are US$25 through airmail WITHOUT insurance, buyers will have to assume all the risks during the mailing.  We do combined shipping.  If more than one item is purchased at the same time, the highest shipping cost will be charged.
