A Huge Orig Japanese Woodblock Print Maiko Kato Shinmei Investigation May Showa 54 (1979) Artist’s Watermark, Takamizawa Publisher Seal and Original Edition Marks

This is a HUGE very beautiful and rare LIMITED-NUMBER (253/300) ORIGINAL Japanese woodblock prints “Investigation” signed by the Showa woodblock master Kato Shinmei (1910-1988) with artist’s Watermark and Publisher Takamizawa Original Edition chop seal published by Takamizawa in May Showa 54, which is 1979 IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.  This woodblock print is more than 40 years old.  This woodblock print is one of the core collections of thousands of gorgeous, different-styled Japanese woodblock print collections in my family. We are gradually selling them.  To see more on my family Japanese woodblock print and Asian art collection, please search for shinhangagallery.com.   Kato Shinmei is best known for his woodblock prints of flowers and Bijins.  The size of each original woodblock print is 17 1/2 x 20 3/4 inches, which is MUCH LARGER than the traditional Japanese Shin Hanga woodblock prints.  The artist’s signature and his chop mark are close to the middle right edge of this original woodblock print.  The title Investigation is in the upper right border while the publisher’s name is in the lower right borders with chop mark of “Limit-edition, copy-right protection”; and the carver and printer’s chop marks are in the lower left border. In the back of these ORIGINAL woodblock print, there is a publisher Takamizawa chop mark, LIMITED Edition (253/300) mark, the chop seal of ORIGINAL Edition from Takamizawa Publisher.  There is an artist’s WATERMARK in the top border of this woodblock print. This ORIGINAL woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese mulberry paper. All four borders (margins) of this woodblock print are intact. As far as I can tell, this ORIGINAL woodblock print is IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.  It is hard to find an ORIGINAL Kato Shinmei’s work of such a beautiful scene in the public nowadays.  It is definitely an incredible piece for collecting.  Shipping is $16 anywhere in US by USPS priority mail with insurance and tracking.  International shipping charges are US$28 through 1st class airmail WITHOUT insurance, buyers will have to assume all the risks during the mailing.
