A Great Orig Japanese Woodblock Print Triptych Yokohama Print Hiroshige Tokyo Famous Place Two Country Bridge w/ Original Edition Chop Mark
This is a very colorful and beautiful original Japanese woodblock print triptych “Tokyo Famous Place Two Country Bridge” signed by the famous Meiji woodblock master Hiroshige III (1842-1894) made in Meiji 9th October, which is 1876. This original Hiroshige woodblock print triptych is more than 100 years old. This original woodblock print triptych is one of the core collections of a large number of Asian art and Japanese woodblock print collections in my family. We are gradually selling them. Hiroshige III is Hiroshige Utagawa’s son-in-law. Hiroshige III is very famous for his Yokohama prints, which depict the lifestyle changes caused by the strong influence of the western world after the Meiji Restoration. His artwork is valued at thousands of dollars in Sotheby and Christie auctions and has been desperately looked for by woodblock collectors around the world. This woodblock print depicts the prosperous street scene around Two Country Bridge from the series of “Tokyo Famous Place”. The three panels are separate. The size of each panel of this woodblock print triptych is 13 1/4 x 9 1/4 inches. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. This woodblock print is attached to an original Japanese Washi backing paper. Hiroshige’s signature and the publisher’s ORIGINAL EDITION and address chop mark are at the lower right corner of the right panel while the chop mark of publication date, Meiji 9th (1876) October is at the lower left corner of the left panel. Except for some foxing due to the age, this woodblock print triptych is in average condition. It is hard to find an original Japanese woodblock Yokohama print triptych of such a colorful and beautiful scene signed by the famous woodblock print master Hiroshige III in the public nowadays and it is definitely an incredible piece for collecting.
