This is a very beautiful and special original Japanese woodblock print triptych “Victory of Japanese Fleet” from the Sino-Japan War series signed by the famous Meiji woodblock print Master Tomita Akita (1868-), made in October 1st Meiji 27, which is 1894 IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. This is an original woodblock print triptych about 125 years old. This woodblock print is one of the core collections of a large number of gorgeous, different-styled Japanese woodblock print collections in my family. We are gradually selling them. This woodblock print depicts a ferocious naval battle between the Japanese Imperial Navy and fleet of Qing Dynasty in the roaring Yellow Sea. Original Japanese woodblock prints of naval engagements signed by the Meiji woodblock print master Tomita Akita are very rare today and are highly searched for by Japanese woodblock print collectors around the world. The three panels of this triptych are separate. The size of each panel of this woodblock print triptych is 14 1/4 x 9 3/4 inches. The artist’s signature and his chop mark are at the lower right corner of the right panel while the publisher’s chop mark and address then, the date this woodblock print triptych was made October 1st Meiji 27 (1894) are at the lower left corner of the left panel . The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. The triptych is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese Washi paper. This woodblock print triptych is IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. It is hard to find an original Japanese woodblock print triptych of such a special and beautiful scene of naval engagement in the public nowadays.
