A Great Large Orig Japanese Woodblock Print LIMIT# PENCIL Sign Kurosaki Akira EMBROIDER MARK Smithsonian Museum
This is an Extra Large, very beautiful, and special LIMITED-NUMBER (1/15) original Japanese Shin Hanga woodblock print “Smithsonian Museum” PENCIL SIGNED by the famous Japanese contemporary Shin Hanga woodblock print Master Kurosaki Akira (1937 - ) with the original EMBROIDER MARK “S.UGHIYAMA” made in 1970s. This is an ORIGINAL woodblock print about 50 years old. This woodblock print is from my family seven-decade old collection of Japanese woodblock prints and Asian Art. He has exhibited widely in and outside Japan, among others at the renowned print biennales in Maastricht, Tokyo, Krakow, Lubljana, Paris and Norway. The artist covers a wide spectrum of styles and techniques including abstract images. Works by the artist are in international museums like The British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Museum of Modern Art (moma) in New York and the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo. The size of this woodblock print is 18 3/4 x 13 1/4 inches, which is LARGER than the traditional Shin-Hanga woodblock prints. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. Four borders are intact. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese mulberry paper. The artist’s PENCIL SIGNED SIGNATURE “Kurosaki”, PENCIL WRITTEN title of this woodblock print “Smithsonian Museum”, and the LIMITED-NUMBER “1/15” are in the bottom border. At the lower right corner of the bottom border, there is a special EMBROIDER MARK “S.UGHIYAMA”. Except for a minor foxing spot in the bottom border and a smll tiny wrinkle in the lower right border, which all do not affect the images, this original woodblock print is in very good condition.
