Large Japanese Woodblock Print Hashiguchi Goyo Woman after Bath

$ 299.00

This is on an EXTRA LARGE very beautiful and rare Japanese woodblock Shin Hanga print “Woman after Bath” from the famous Shin-Hanga woodblock print artist Hashiguchi Goyo (1880-1921) published by the famous printmaker YuYuDo.  This woodblock print is one of the core collections of a large number of Asian art and Japanese woodblock print collections in my family and we are gradually selling them.  The exact same print can be found on Internet.  Because Goyo died at age 41, he only made 14 woodblock prints in all his life, and most of them were destroyed by fire, weather and earthquake including the woodblocks.  Goyo was one of the most famous and gifted artists during the Taisho (1910-1925) Era in Japan. The artist’s signature, his chop mark, the date of the print “July Taisho 9 (1921)” and the title of this print “Woman after Bath” are at the lower left corner of the print.  The publisher YuYuDo chop mark is in the lower right border while another publisher’s chop mark, carver and printer’s chop marks are in the back of the lower left of the print.   The size of this woodblock print is 18 1/4 x 12 inches, which is MUCH LARGER than the traditional Shin Hanga woodblock prints.  The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese mulberry paper.  All four borders are intact.   Except for a very minor and light diagonal wrinkle at the upper left corner of the print this woodblock print is in good conditionIt is hard to find a Hashiguchi Goyo’s work in the public nowadays and it is definitely an incredible piece for collecting.  Any credit card, visa, master card, bank and post office money order, cashier check and personal check are accepted.  Personal checks will take about ten days to clear.  Texas residents need to pay 8.25% tax.  Shipping is $16 dollars anywhere in US via USPS priority mail with insurance and tracking.  International shipping charges are US$25 through airmail WITHOUT insurance, buyers will have to assume all the risks during the mailing.  We do combined shipping.  If more than one item is purchased at the same time, the highest shipping cost will be charged.
