Huge Original Japanese Woodblock Print LIMIT# Brush Signature Kato Shinmei Maiko Water Mark Takamizawa Printmaker

This is a HUGE very beautiful and rare LIMITED-NUMBER (AP/300) original Japanese woodblock print “Maiko” Brush SIGNED by the Showa woodblock master Kato Shinmei (1910-1988) published by the famous Takamizawa printmaker with an artist’s WATER MARK at the upper left border made in 1960s IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.  This is an original woodblock print about 50 years old.  This woodblock print is one of the core collections of a large number of gorgeous, different-styled Japanese woodblock print collections in my family. We are gradually selling them.  To see more on my family Japanese woodblock print and Asian art collection, please search for shinhangagallery.com on Google.   Kato Shinmei is best known for his woodblock prints of flowers and Bijins.   The size of this woodblock print is 20 3/4 x 17 1/2 inches, which is MUCH LARGER than the traditional Shin Hanga woodblock prints.  The artist’s signature and his chop mark are close to the middle right edge of the print while artist’s BRUSH SIGNATURE, LIMITED-NUMBER (AP/300) and publisher Takamizawa chop mark are in the back of the print as shown. The title of the print is in the upper right border, the “copy right reserved” chop mark is in the lower right border with the publisher’s chop mark while carver and printer’s chop seals are in the left border.  The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers.  This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese mulberry paper. All four borders (margins) of the print are intact. This woodblock print is IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. It is hard to find an original Kato Shinmei’s work of such a beautiful scene in the public nowadays.  It is definitely an incredible piece for collecting.  Any credit card, visa, master card, bank and post office money order, cashier check and personal check are accepted.  Personal checks will take about ten days to clear.
