This is a HUGE very beautiful, special and SELF-CARVED original Japanese woodblock print “Les Soib” PENCIL SIGNED by the famous Showa Shin Hanga woodblock print master Okuyama Jihachiro (1907-1981) made in June Showa 31, 1956 IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. This is an original woodblock print about 63 years old. The print size is 22x 16 inches, which is MUCH LARGER than the traditional Shin Hanga woodblock prints. The artist’s English PENCIL signature, the title of the print and the date this print was made 1956 are in the bottom border and his Japanese PENCIL signature, SELF-CARVED and date this print was made “Showa 31” are in the left border. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers on the original Japanese Washi paper. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese Mulberry Washi paper. Four borders are intact. This original woodblock print is IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. It is hard to find a original Japanese woodblock print of such a beautiful and rare scene signed by the famous Showa woodblock print master Okuyama Jihachiro in the public nowadays.
