A Huge Orig Japanese Woodblock Print LIMIT EDIT Baba Nobuhiko Publisher Ito Shinsui Bijin-ga Cool Evening
This is a HUGE LIMITED-EDITION (120th) very beautiful, and special original Japanese woodblock print “Cool Evening” signed by the famous Taisho/Showa Shin Hanga woodblock print master Shinsui Ito (1898-1974) published by the rare publisher Baba Nobuhiko made in early Showa (1925~1987) IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. This is an original woodblock print more than 60 years old. This woodblock print is one of the seventy-year collections of a large number of gorgeous, different-styled Asian art and Japanese woodblock prints from my family. Ito Shinsui belongs to the great masters of the Shin Hanga movement. In 1952 the Japanese government declared his artwork an intangible national treasure, the highest public award a Japanese artist could achieve. The size of this ORIGINAL woodblock print is 15 x 20 inches, which is MUCH LARGER than the traditional Shin Hanga woodblock prints. The artist’s signature and his chop mark are at the upper right corner of the print while the title of this woodblock print “Cool Evening” is in the upper right border. The LIMITED-NUMBER 120th is in the middle left border, the publisher’s chop mark “Baba Nobuhiko”, the carver and printer’s chop marks are in the lower left border. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers on the original Japanese Washi paper. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese Mulberry paper. Four borders are intact. This original woodblock print is IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. Please examine the photos. It is hard to find such a beautiful original Japanese woodblock print signed by the famous Showa Shin Hanga woodblock print master Ito Shinsui in the public nowadays.
